Warren Grundfest, M.D.

Surgeon

Dr. Grundfest is professor of biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, and surgery at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his medical degree from Columbia University in 1980 and trained in general surgery at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He was appointed assistant director of surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA in 1987. He served as a research professor in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California and as visiting associate in mechanical engineering at California Institute of Technology. His research efforts include the development of minimally invasive surgical devices, robotic systems, optical and ultrasonic sensors, haptic feedback systems, and biomedical photonics.

Mark H. DeLegge, M.D.

Gastroenterologist

Dr. DeLegge is a Professor of Medicine and former Director of Digestive Disease Center at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. He currently serves as Director of Nutrition at MUSC. He also serves as the International Advisor for Intravenous Therapy and Nutrition at Baxter Healthcare in Deerfield, Ill. He is board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and nutrition.

Randy Haluck, M.D.

Minimally Invasive Surgeon

Dr. Haluck is chief of the Section of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatrics at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The author of numerous publications on minimally invasive surgery and surgical education using simulation, Haluck serves on the Committees of Technology and Development of the Society for American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Organizing Committee for the Medicine Meets Virtual Reality Conference, and he has also served on the executive committee for the MIS Fellowship Council.

Robert Harbaugh, M.D.

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Harbaugh is professor and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, program director for neurosurgery residency, and professor of engineering science and mechanics at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Harbaugh has been an invited speaker in eleven different countries and throughout the United States. His research interests include clinical trial design, outcomes analysis and quality improvement in neurosurgery, and computer modeling of intracranial aneurysms. He maintains a clinical practice, specializing in cerebrovascular surgery and tumor surgery.

Kevin M. Cockroft, M.D.

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Cockroft is director of cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery in the department of neurosurgery at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He is also co-director of the Penn State Hershey Stroke Center, director of the neurosurgery department’s neuroendovascular fellowship training program, and associate professor with a joint appointment in neurosurgery, radiology, and public health sciences. Dr. Cockroft earned his bachelor’s degree at The Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Cornell University. He completed his medical residency at The New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.

Richard Tipperman, M.D.

Ocular Surgeon

Dr. Tipperman is an active member of the teaching staff and the former chief resident at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York and his medical degree at the University of Rochester. Dr. Tipperman has lectured locally, nationally, and internationally on a variety of ophthalmic surgical topics including refractive surgery.

Mr. Conrad Clyburn

Military Medical Expert

Mr. Conrad Clyburn is the former special assistant to the director of Telemedicine at Advanced Technologies Research Center, US ARMY Medical Research and Materiel Command (TATRC). He is a partner in Clymer Group LLC, a consulting firm focused on bringing together medical research and technology between universities, government, and the private sector.
